- To generate a series of codes, visit the 2-step authentication page, and scroll down to the backup code area. Do click on Get a new code. This will produce a text file for you to download, which will later be called Backup-codes-.txt.
- Open the Gmail login page, and enter your username or password. Then, when requesting 2-step authentication, click on Other options and then click again on Enter one of your 8-digit backup codes. Enter the code that you own, and you will immediately be able to access your Gmail account again.
